The New York Giants are looking to hire their next franchise leader following the firing of now-former head coach Brian Daboll earlier this year.
The Giants are currently led by interim head coach Mike Kafka, but the New York offensive coordinator is not expected to retain his position into the 2026 NFL season.
Despite their disappointing 2-10 record through the first 12 weeks of the 2025 season, the Giants have a lot to look forward to in the coming years. The team seems to have found its franchise quarterback in Jaxson Dart, and superstar offensive weapons like Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo are expected to be back on the field in 2026.
Legendary NFL coach Jon Gruden believes the Giants' head coaching job is "very desirable" for prospective candidates.
"It is one of the founding franchises of football," Gruden said, via team insider Jordan Raanan. "It's New York. It's Jaxson Dart — you know what kind of talent he is. You know he has the arm talent, the athleticism. I know he's a smart guy — a great competitor. I think that's pretty much a good summary of why this is a desirable job."

Several names have been floated as potential coaching candidates for the Giants, including Gruden himself.
Jay Gruden stated the case for his brother to take over as the next franchise leader in New York during a recent appearance on "The Arena: Gridiron" show.
“I think he’d be very interested. He loves Jaxson Dart,” Jay Gruden said. “If you want a guy to run RPOs and zone reads, he’s not your guy. If you want a guy to come in the building and challenge your quarterback every day, with personnel groupings, formations, snap counts, motions – a way to develop the quarterback the right way – then yeah, I’d be interested in having Jon come coach my team.”
