It certainly wasn't pretty, but the Alabama Crimson Tide took care of business against their fierce rival Auburn Tigers in the Iron Bowl on Saturday, emerging with a 27-20 victory after blowing a 17-0 lead.

Alabama finished the regular season with a record of 10-2 and will now face the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday, seeking to come up with another win against Georgia after beating the Bulldogs back in late September.

Chances are, the Crimson Tide will be in the College Football Playoff regardless of what happens this weekend, but that didn't stop a reporter from asking about a potential CFP snub for Alabama, and head coach Kalen DeBoer responded just as you would expect.

“Yeah, I mean, we’re 7-1 in the SEC. I mean, that would blow my mind, but I know what you’re getting at, that’s crazy," DeBoer said. "And I don’t mean to saying your question is crazy, but just that would be unreal. You know, I mean, we’re 10-2 and 7-1 in the SEC with all these ranked wins, and we get some [good] wins on the road. We've got more than a playoff-caliber football team. There’s not a question in my mind.”

Kalen DeBoer, Alabama Crimson Tide...

The Crimson Tide are currently 10th in the College Football Playoff rankings. Remember: it's a 12-team playoff, so it's not like Alabama is one of the very top teams in the mix.

However, it would certainly take some very weird circumstances to leave DeBoer's group out of the CFP.

After a brutal season-opening loss at Florida State, the Crimson Tide rebounded to rattle off eight straight wins, which included four consecutive victories over ranked SEC opponents at one point. That included winning at Georgia and at Missouri. Its only loss to a ranked team came against Oklahoma on Nov. 15.

Alabama is also ranked 10th in the top-25 AP poll, so there is very little reason to even consider excluding the squad from the College Football Playoff based on its incredible resume.

Of course, the Crimson Tide certainly have a tremendous chance to improve their ranking against the Bulldogs this Saturday. A win would certainly do wonders for their standing in the CFP.

DeBoer is now in his second season at Tuscaloosa. He went 9-4 and lost to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl during his debut campaign last year.
