The Philadelphia Phillies need to do everything in their power to re-sign Kyle Schwarber in free agency this winter. Schwarber is projected to sign a massive $160 million deal, per Jim Bowden of The Athletic.

Schwarber is coming off an MVP-level season with the Phillies and deserves to be paid in free agency because of it. But the Phillies won't be the only team to pursue him in free agency.

MLB's Mark Feinsand recently suggested Schwarber would be the perfect fit for the Cincinnati Reds, which would be a nightmare scenario for the Phillies.

Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber...

"Schwarber hails from nearby Middletown, Ohio, and while free agents don’t tend to base their decisions on a desire to return home, it’s the one thing the Reds can offer that no other team can," Feinsand wrote. "Cincinnati needs a big bat, and while it remains to be seen whether the Reds will be willing to spend what it’s going to take to land Schwarber, the fit is perfect."

The Reds are a realistic landing spot for Schwarber because of his reported eagerness to play for his hometown team. But the Reds never seem to make huge moves like this. Signing Schwarber would cost a lot of money, and the Reds never cough up that kind of cash.

Still, this could be the perfect scenario for them to do so. If they were going to give out a big deal, it would be for Schwarber, and it would take their postseason team to the next level.
