Holly Willoughby has pleaded guilty to knocking a scooter rider off their bike in an August driving incident, it is reported.

The former This Morning host, 44, was accused of careless driving while at the wheel of her Mini Cooper in Barnes on August 28, when she knocked a scooter driver to the ground.

The Daily Mail reports Willoughby did not appear for the short Lavender Hill Magistrates Court hearing on Tuesday morning, but pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention via post.

According to the publication, the court was shown footage of the TV star turning right into a side street without indicating, while the rider attempted to overtake her.

The rider, on a white Piaggio scooter, was knocked to the ground after colliding with the front wing of the car and suffered a fracture to his neck and a broken toe.

Willoughby was handed six points on her licence and fined £2,444 including court costs, to be paid within 14 days, it is reported.

Aisling Byrnes, defending, said Willoughby suffered a ‘momentary lapse judgement’.

Prosecutor Geraldine Dickinson told the court: ‘The defendant was driving [the Mini] in Barnes.

‘The intention was to turn right, which she did without indicating and the rider was thrown from the motorbike. This resulted in the injury to the rider: a C7 fracture and a broken toe.

‘I do have a statement from the victim. He was riding his white Piaggio scooter, approximately 180 metres before the traffic lights, which were showing red at the time.’

The victim’s statement read: ‘I was travelling at a speed of around 20mph and was slowing down to stop.

‘As I was level with the black Mini Cooper the driver turned right without indicating in order to enter the road. This caused me to be thrown to the ground in the carriageway.’

The former ITV presenter is said to be preparing for a TV comeback after Dancing on Ice and Celebrity Bear Hunt were axed, and she quit regular slots including You Bet! with Stephen Mulhern and This Morning.

It’s the first time Willoughby has been without a TV hosting role in 20 years, and with Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman’s joint departure from Strictly Come Dancing, she’s tipped as their possible replacement.

Willoughby’s departure from screens was an intentional step back from the spotlight, too, after a terrifying plot to kidnap and murder her was uncovered, and she decided to prioritise her family.
