By Melissa Fleur AfsharShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberIn her return to the White House as first lady, Melania Trump has drawn fresh attention, and even some social-media praise for her 2025 Christmas decorations, with extravagant designs that some fans have dubbed a master-class in taste—even as online commentary remains largely divided.
Melania Trump, 55, first stepped into the White House back in 2016. She has garnered praise in very Paris Hilton fashion for being "iconic," with everything from her hard stare to her enviable shoe collection, and the long-running joke that she hates her position as first lady, often leading to memes.
Now, her Christmas decorations have gained particular traction, with them going viral on social-media platforms such as TikTok.

This year's theme, "Home Is Where the Heart Is," was revealed on December 1.
The decor nods to the upcoming 250th anniversary of American independence and features patriotic symbolism throughout. It also includes modern touches such as AI-generated ornaments and Lego portraits of President Donald Trump.
A TikTok video from the creator @melania_elegance shows the first lady gliding past frost-toned trees in the White House halls, with overlaid text reading: "The Queen is finally back and has brought order to the White House with her elegant Christmas decorations."
The video has drawn over 1,600 views, while a post by @teamtrump showing her adjusting ornaments on ornate trees has surpassed 737,000 views.

Reaction has been swift and, at times, sharply split.
...On a video shared by the TikTok user @redpillmaga1776, one supporter commented: "I love her taste so much! She’s such a classy woman."
Another countered: "A real leader wouldn’t waste money on decor when we can’t even have [a] Christmas dinner this year, much less any presents."

A more-measured take came from creator @americanblondie2, who said in a post: "This year’s Christmas decorations at The White House are not what you’d expect from her…We've got Lego, AI ornaments and 120 pounds of gingerbread dough."
The video shows a close-up of the now-famous Lego portrait of President Donald Trump, the gingerbread White House centerpiece, and the "Home Is Where the Heart Is" tree adorned with AI-printed ornaments, a nod to Melania Trump’s push for AI education.

The East Room, decorated in red, white and blue with golden eagles throughout, features symbols of American patriotism and the forthcoming America250 celebration.
Whether Melania Trump’s Christmas style is viewed as iconic or icy, the first lady’s latest display has again made the White House decorations a mirror of America’s broader cultural split.
Newsweek reached out to the White House for comment via email on Tuesday.
