The Penn State Nittany Lions don't appear to be having much luck in finding their replacement for longtime head coach James Franklin, who was fired after compiling a 104-45 record and a College Football Playoff appearance in his 12 seasons with the program.
Nebraska's Matt Rhule initially looked like the clear favorite to win the job, but eventually opted to stay in Lincoln, spurning his alma mater. James Madison's Bob Chesney then emerged as the frontrunner for the job, but he appears to have chosen the UCLA Bruins job over the Nittany Lions.
A hoard of other names have been tossed into the mix, but earlier this week the search for Franklin's replacement reached a fever pitch when BYU's Kalani Sitake was said to be in talks with Penn State for the job.
Just a day later, the Penn State search has taken another wild turn.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, Dec. 2, CBS Sports insiders Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer reported BYU is optimistic it will be able to retain Sitake.
"BYU is working hard to try to keep head coach and current Penn State target Kalani Sitake and there’s some optimism at the moment on the BYU side that they may be able to keep him. Fluid situation," Zenitz reported.

With Sitake seemingly reconsidering his future, a new favorite has surged into the lead in the race to become Penn State's next head coach, according to the latest odds from Kalshi, which gives Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm a 36% chance to win the job - 30% more than he had earlier this morning.
Ohio State's top assistant, Brian Hartline, is now the second favorite for the job.
