Netflix UK has added a critically acclaimed television series to their ranks – one which viewers have hailed as having a ‘perfect’ ending.
Starring Claire Danes and Damian Lewis, the gritty conspiracy thriller Homeland ran for eight seasons, from 2011 to 2020.
It starred Danes as CIA agent Carrie Mathison, who grows convinced that a highly decorated Marine Corps sniper (Lewis) has been ‘turned’ by al-Qaeda, and is secretly working against the United States.
While the first few series follow Mathison’s attempts to prove her theory correct, it also deals with her own mental health journey, as she navigates her life and career with bipolar disorder.

Metro called the show ‘a masterclass in high-wire tension,’ and a ‘standard box set belter.’

Dubbing it the ‘best ending ever,’ RealRosoy said: ‘all I can say is just thank you to the whole Cast for one of the best TV Shows I’ve ever watched. I’m so sad it’s over now but it’s a good feeling sadness because the ending of that was just PERFECT!’

In the wake of the show’s final series, star Claire Danes opened up about her character, telling The Guardian: ‘I loved her.
‘It was just so nice to play the smartest person in the room, somebody who was so daring and unapologetically ambitious and such a badass. She’s not really going away.’
On bidding farewell to the series (and Carrie), emotions came to a head during her final scene with mentor Saul, played by Mandy Patinkin.
Danes said: ‘I think for me that was my cathartic moment when I realised it was over, because to say goodbye to it in its entirety is just too abstract and too huge.
‘There were some tears – many of them – and we just hugged each other for a really long time.’
