The Minecraft-inspired sandbox RPG fans have waited nearly a decade for, Hytale, is set to feature a wholesome tribute to one of the most legendary players Mojang's game has known: YouTuber and beloved community figure Technoblade.
Alexander, known by most online as Technoblade, was a popular content creator and Hypixel – the Minecraft server hosted by Hytale's developers – frequenter. Although he passed away in 2022 after disclosing just a year prior that he was battling cancer, Technoblade has lived on since via his dedicated fanbase and tributes like the reference made to his iconic royal pig skin in one of the Minecraft movie Easter eggs.

Hytale is set to feature a similar tribute itself to Technoblade, with Hypixel Studios founder Simon Collins-Laflamme revealing as much in a new online post. "I received Technoblade's father's blessing to add something in Hytale that represents Technoblade's memory," writes the dev. "I want the community involved in this; please share your ideas for what would feel like a meaningful tribute!"

Collins-Laflamme then explains why the Hytale team wants Technoblade to be a part of the new game. "He was a big part of our journey with Hypixel, and I wish for him to be part of this one as well," he describes. It turns out that Technoblade wasn't just a fan of the server's minigames, though – he actually wanted to work with Hypixel Studios as a teenager. In a follow-up thread, Collins-Laflamme shares an email from the YouTuber.
"Some Technoblade lore," says the Hytale lead, a screenshot of a heartfelt "marketing team application" from Technoblade attached. "In 2015, he applied to work for our marketing team, but unfortunately, he was too young back then." The email sees a teenage Technoblade sharing his growing experience with marketing and running his YouTube channel – a channel that he had been uploading videos to since 2013.

It's heartwarming to read – and the idea of a tribute in Hytale, a game Technoblade would undoubtedly be looking forward to now that it's finally nearing its release, is as well. Fans are already taking to Collins-Laflamme's comments with suggestions of what it could be, too. "A Technoblade constellation in the sky would be beautiful. It wouldn't have to be visible every night – or maybe it's just a rare Easter egg," reads one response.
Others suggest a special sword of sorts. Regardless of what it does end up being, however, one thing is for certain – Technoblade will be a part of the Hytale journey in some shape or form, and evidently, he already has been for Hypixel Studios.
