The Oklahoma Sooners are 9-2 heading into their regular-season finale against the LSU Tigers on Saturday, holding No. 8 position in the College Football Playoff rankings.
This weekend's home contest is crucial for the Sooners as they attempt to secure their spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff field.
Unfortunately for Oklahoma, the team be without one of its most impactful players on the defensive side of the ball to start the game.
Sophomore defensive back Reggie Powers III is suspended for the first half of Saturday's clash against LSU after he was ejected during the second half of this past weekend's win over the Missouri Tigers.
With 2:34 remaining in the fourth quarter, Powers lowered the crown of his helmet on Missouri wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. Referees threw a penalty flag on the field, and the targeting call was confirmed and upheld upon official review.
Per NCAA rules, Powers' second-half ejection results in an automatic first-half suspension for the team's next game.

Powers joined Brent Venables' Oklahoma program as a four-star recruit in the 2024 class. The Ohio native, known for delivering big-time hits, has 28 total tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one pass defended in his sophomore campaign so far.
Powers notched five tackles before his ejection in Saturday's 17-6 win over Missouri.
“I love Reggie Powers. His passion and energy, his intensity, his playmaking. I’ve told the coaches: Find a way to get this dude on the field,” Venables said before the start of the 2025 college football season.

Oklahoma has strung together three consecutive ranked wins heading into this weekend's matchup against LSU, beating No. 14 Tennessee and No. 4 Alabama before its win over No. 22 Missouri. A win over the Tigers on Saturday will put the Sooners in excellent position to earn a College Football Playoff berth.
Saturday's LSU-Oklahoma matchup will kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET.
