LSU has its sights set on Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin after firing Brian Kelly in the middle of the 2025 season after he failed to live up to expectations.
The Tigers reportedly have a $90 million offer on the table. He'd make $13 million per season and have an NIL and revenue share roster investments "exceeding" $25 million per season if he decided to take the deal, according to Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger.
"While specific details of the contract remain fluid, sources told Yahoo Sports that school executives have discussed a seven-year, incentive-laden deal worth at least $90 million — figures that would make Kiffin, at the very least, tied for the highest-paid coach in the sport. The school is, as well, promising significant NIL and revenue share roster investments exceeding $25 million — perhaps the most important determining factor for the coach," Dellenger reported.
While LSU is swinging for the fences, ESPN college football personality Paul Finebaum believes the Tigers made a mistake.

Finebaum suggested Florida is a better landing spot for Kiffin than LSU, who the ESPN personality called out for running "out a pretty good coach" in Kelly.
"Now, the conventional wisdom as of Sunday morning is LSU," Finebaum said. "I will disagree. I think Florida right now is riper because the fact that Florida looked so bad last night, to me, makes that job a little bit easier than LSU, who ran out a pretty good coach."
"I don’t think Billy Napier — he may be a good coach somewhere, but he wasn’t a good coach at Florida. I mean, Kelly was good, maybe not great, but LSU had everything on its shelf this year to win a title and they just couldn’t get it done. So, I would gravitate toward Florida a little bit."
Finebaum later suggested the Tigers' roster wasn't as "stacked" as the football world was led to believe when Kelly was ousted after a blowout loss to the Texas A&M Aggies.
"I would argue, too, I don’t know that LSU was as roster-stacked as people thought as the season went on," he added. "I know they spent some money, the offense never really took off under Garrett Nussmeier. There was never really a running game, and so, I know a lot of people thought that about LSU."
Kiffin and the Rebels are in the thick of the College Football Playoff race with one final game coming against Mississippi State on Friday, Nov. 28.
