The Dallas Cowboys staged an inspiring comeback victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday by overcoming a 21-0 deficit to win on a last-second Brandon Aubrey field goal. That victory quite possibly saved their season, but they still have tons of work to do if they are to have even a shot at making the playoffs.
With a 5-5-1 record, they face a short rest period before they host Patrick Mahomes and the three-time defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving. Cornerback Trevon Diggs has missed each of their last five games due to a concussion he sustained during an incident at his home, as well as a knee injury, and he will likely not be on the field versus Kansas City.
"Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs may be eligible to be activated off injured reserve, but it likely won’t happen prior to Thursday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs," wrote Joseph Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News.
"The Cowboys have yet to open his practice window after he was placed on injured reserve following a concussion he suffered at his home in an accident where details were scarce. Diggs was also dealing with a knee injury opposite of the one he had season-ending surgery on last year."

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said that while Diggs has improved, having just three full days of rest and preparation will be a challenge as far as getting the corner ready to play.
“He’s doing better,” Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said about Diggs on Monday. “One of the issues this week is that it’s a short week. Again, we’ll see what everybody does, but short weeks are a little harder. He’s doing everything best, and has a really good look on his face.”
...Diggs, 27, was a force in Dallas' secondary not too long ago. As recently as 2022, he posted 14 passes defended and three interceptions while getting named to his second straight Pro Bowl.
But injuries may have robbed him of a good deal of his natural ability. He had a solid 2024, but in six games this year, he doesn't have a single pass breakup.

Doggs has three additional years left on his contract, and he will have a salary cap hit of $23.4 million in 2027 and $21 million the following year, according to spotrac.com. There have been some rumblings that perhaps the Cowboys will look to part ways with him after this season due to his health problems, and he was mentioned in trade rumors prior to the deadline earlier this month.
