US President Donald Trump is reportedly pushing for a revival of the Rush Hour franchise, professing to be a fan of the action comedies.
The buddy cop trilogy starred Chris Tucker as a wise-cracking American cop paired with an inspector from Hong Kong, played by martial arts legend Jackie Chan. The first movie, released in 1998, was a box office hit, and led to two sequels released in 2001 and 2007 respectively. A fourth movie has been discussed for years, with Tucker confirming negotiations as recently as 2023.

Brett Ratner, who directed all three movies in the series, most recently helmed a documentary about Trump’s wife, Melania, due to stream on Amazon Prime Video in January 2026.
The article also claims that the politician “appears to want to revive the raucous comedies and action movies of the late 1980s to late 1990s. He’s passionate, for instance, about the 1988 Jean Claude Van Damme sports flick Bloodsport.”
Prior to entering politics, Donald Trump had numerous appearances in TV and film, usually cameos as himself. Most famously, he appeared in 1992’s Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, offering star Macaulay Culkin’s character directions. The cameo resurfaced on social media following Trump’s first election, and in April the director of the movie, Chris Columbus, called the appearance a “curse”.
