If you’ve got a picky eater at home, you’ll know just how much of a nightmare it can be when a product they like is discontinued.
As such, many parents have been left ‘fuming’ after learning McDonald’s is axing an item from the Happy Meal menu.
Mums have taken to social media to share their upset over the news that Fish Fingers will no longer be available in Happy Meals – instead, there’s going to be a new McFish option, as well as a Mayo Chicken.
The McFish features a Filet-O-Fish patty in a regular toasted bun with ketchup and it’ll be replacing the Fish Finger Happy Meal from November 26.

And it’s not the only thing disappearing from the menu…
Fish Bites, which were bite-sized pollock pieces in a panko breadcrumb coating, are also being removed from the menu.
They launched back in May 2024, as part of a limited-time trial in 187 restaurants across the North West region of the UK and selected parts in the Republic of Ireland.
UK locations included Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and Merseyside.
However, you won’t be able to find them anywhere from November 26, as these too are being replaced with the McFish.

Speaking about the change, a Mcdonald’s spokesperson told Metro: ‘We’re always looking at ways to innovate our menu offering for our customers. We’re excited to welcome two new additions to Happy Meal, including the Mayo Chicken and the McFish.
‘We know the Mayo Chicken is hugely popular across all age ranges, and that the McFish addition to Happy Meal has been successful in other markets, so we’re confident these changes will make our Happy Meal options better than ever.’
But their words have done little to appease parents, with many now left wondering whether their children will be able to eat at Maccies ever again.
Many have shared their upset on social media, in response to an announcement about the Happy Meal change on the UK Newest Foods on Facebook page.
Sophie Knight said: ‘That’s not fair on younger kids that can eat fish fingers that you don’t want to give them as a burger with bread, etc.’

Similarly, Emily Swash commented: ‘My daughter only likes Fish Finger Happy Meal… What a silly idea.’
Ashleigh Mae Berry was ‘fuming’ over the products being axed, while Nai Hughes proclaimed: ‘That’s it, we are never going to McDonald’s ever again.’
Sarah Potts posted: ‘Ah gutted, my little one won’t eat anything in burger shape. Fish Fingers are her favourite!’
While Robyn Hewson added: ‘Fish Fingers are the only one my son likes on the menu, will be yet another place we can’t go because he doesn’t like anything else. Absolute pain when we are doing a long journey and need a quick, hot meal on the way.’

This call all be washed down with a Frozen Grinch Lemonade, Coconut Latte or Coconut Hot Chocolate and followed up with a striking green Grumble Pie, or a Mischief McFlurry or Chocolate Brownie McFlurry.

Other big changes McDonald's has made to the Happy Meal lately...
Getting rid of Fish Fingers and Fish Bites isn’t the only change Maccies has made to the Happy Meal lately.
Changing the box
The fast food chain also recently removed the classic red colour, to mark BBC Children in Need, giving kids a white box to draw their feelings on, as part of a mental health campaign.
Plastic toys
Earlier this year, McDonald’s also announced it would be reversing its stance on plastic toys, which were scrapped in 2021.
The chain had instead introduced paper products in Happy Meals, however many people were struggling with the ‘limitations’ of these products as they are less durable.
As such, McDonald’s revealed it was looking into using more ‘durable materials’ – including plastic – to give families the ‘value’ they deserve, while still meeting global sustainability ambitions.
Adult Happy Meals
In March, a limited-edition Minecraft meal launched in the UK, which many dubbed the first-ever adult Happy Meal.
As well as food, it featured six different collectibles. These saw iconic McDonald’s characters like Grimace and the Hamburglar ‘blockified’ like in Minecraft.
