Baldur's Gate 3, Elden Ring, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 star Jennifer English has a pretty simple message for the use of generative AI in games - "Don't."

AI-generated content has become a hot topic in games; while the Nintendo eShop and Steam store being filled to the brim with low-effort slop is one thing, we're starting to see it implemented more and more in major titles.

And while the simple answer is pretty much the most correct answer you can give when it comes to using the slop machine for the creative aspects of game development, English did elaborate on the matter. "Use your beautiful, creative, human brains." She adds, "I get it that AI is a tool. I get it, but not to replace creativity," which echoes what Hideo Kojima recently said about AI usage.

While AI-generated content often feels homogenized, English argues that human error is part of what makes games what they are, saying that "Mistakes are beautiful. Mistakes are wonderful. Flaws are wonderful. Keep them in. Keep it human. Be cool, guys. Don't be weird."
