I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here fans still can’t quite believe Tom Read Wilson’s unique accent.
The E4 Celebs Go Dating star has been introduced to a whole new audience on the ITV reality series, who are just discovering his quintessential RP accent and far-reaching vocabulary.
Speaking as though he belongs more in Buckingham Palace than in the jungle, the reality star, 39, has garnered plenty of attention for his posh accent, not least last night when he put on a fake deep voice as he joked about being straight.

Maintaining the new voice, which no doubt was also poking fun at fans who don’t believe him, he said during a Bush Telegraph: ‘Do you know what? That Tom character with all the fancy language, it is so exhausting.
‘Much nicer to hang in here,’ before breaking character as he laughed at his own antics.
Still, his deeper register left fans impressed and confused in equal measure.

‘It’s not just his accent changing but his lower vocal range too that makes him sound so authentically different from his normal Received Pronunciation,’ voiceoveremmy wrote on Instagram.
‘How he changed character so fast was brilliant,’ marley.franscesca echoed.
‘Genuinely what is his real voice,’ ben_hasler questioned.
‘That deep voice threw me,’ deeshelton335 added.
‘I’m confused as to which is real,’ Chazdee shared.
‘I’m so cofnused now,’ joanna24xx agreed.
When asked whether his regular accent on screen was real, friend and dating coach Anna Williamson wrote: ‘It’s probably the most common question everybody says, does he really talk like that?’ she said during a recent appearance on Lorraine.
“I can now clarify, absolutely, Tom Read Wilson speaks like that,’ she continued, citing his musical theatre background as the reason it developed.
That’s right, despite the scepticism from fans, it appears his actual accent is the one with note-perfect elocution.
The campmates are just as fascinated by his accent as viewers, with Aitch and the rest putting it to the test by comparing it to the rapper’s northern accent the other day.
During their conversation, Tom once more showed his code-switching skills by effortlessly mimicking Aitch’s voice, impressing everyone there.
In fact, fans from Celebs Go Dating will be all too familiar with how good Tom is at doing various types of accents from Essex to Irish and beyond.
Given Tom’s top-notch skill to slide into different voices, fans are constantly left befuddled over what his true accent is.

‘I’m genuinely intrigued about the voice,’ Sallycinammon123 shared over on Reddit.
‘I swear people haven’t watched Celebs Go Dating and are only just discovering the delightful dialogue and eloquent expression that Tom bestows!’ Li Hambridge posted on Facebook.
‘His non-posh voice suited him as much as the posh one,’ JaneDriffill said.
‘I’m 100% convinced now, that Tom puts on his posh accent,’ Adam Harvey wrote.
‘Imagine if that’s actually his real voice. And he’s been putting in on all this time,’ Charlotte Todd joked.

Discussing his motivation to join the show, the TV star said: ‘My first thought when they approached me about taking part was abject terror. But I have got a very strict rule in life.

‘If the only reason that you don’t want to do it is fear, you must do it, whatever it is.
‘I’m fearful as a porcupine and I am very nervous that my grey cells won’t dance properly in camp, too.
‘At home, I do a cryptic crossword every day, I always have a book on the go and I am a bit worried that my frontal lobes will drop off if I don’t have a lubricant for it. I can be vague at times and I don’t want to scatter brain cells over the camp!’
