By Suzanne BlakeShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberJimmy John’s has a new addition to its menu, but the dessert option is only available for a limited time.
The Holiday Magic Cookie made with M&M’S is available as of Monday, November 24.
Why It Matters
Quick- and full-service restaurants add new menu options as a way to boost customer interest and foot traffic, even as spending cools within the larger economy.
The holidays can serve as a perfect opportunity to unveil new items, with the limited-time specials taking advantage of seasonal flavors or trends.
...What To Know
The new Jimmy John’s dessert option includes a sugar cookie base along with red and green milk chocolate M&Ms, topped with sprinkles. It is part of a celebration deal for National Cookie Day, which is December 4, Jimmy John’s said.
The other cookies available on Jimmy John’s menu are the Chocolate Chip and Oatmeal Raising cookies, but the Holiday Magic Cookie could offer something unique for those looking to get into the holiday spirit.
“At Jimmy John’s, we know our fans love cookies–they’re not just a treat, they’re a tradition,” Kelly Morena, director of category management & menu strategy at Jimmy John’s, told Newsweek.
“Every year, the excitement around our seasonal cookies is incredible, and that energy inspires us to keep innovating. The holidays felt like the perfect moment to surprise and delight with something festive and fun. And with National Cookie Day right around the corner, what better way to celebrate than by introducing a cookie that truly captures the magic of the season?”
Morena said that seasonal items are creating buzz with new and old customers.
“Across the industry, limited-time seasonal offerings continue to create excitement and anticipation, and we’re proud to keep leading that charge," Morena said. "This launch is all about continuing what we do best: bringing bold flavors, fun experiences and a little extra magic to lunch and beyond.”
What People Are Saying
Kelly Morena, director of category management & menu strategy at Jimmy John’s, told Newsweek: “We’ve been delivering cookie joy for years, and we’re not stopping now. Guests have shown us time and again how much they love new cookie flavors, and the Holiday Magic Cookie is the next chapter in that story. It’s colorful, indulgent, and designed to make every bite feel special – whether you’re pairing it with your favorite Toasted sandwich or enjoying it during a cozy holiday moment.”
Alex Beene, a financial literacy instructor for the University of Tennessee at Martin, told Newsweek: “It’s difficult to remember a year when so many restaurant chains have added menu options in a bid to draw in more customers. With this dessert addition of Jimmy John’s offerings, the chain is attempting to appeal to cash-strapped customers who have favored eating at home in recent months instead of dining out. The retailer’s hope is that like some of its competitors, it can catch the attention of consumers during the holiday season to try out this item.”
