Aaron Rodgers was forced to miss last week's game for the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Chicago Bears. Despite doing everything in his power to get back on the field to face off against his longtime rival, Rodgers didn't get cleared to play.

Of course, Rodgers has been dealing with a fracture in his wrist. The Steelers simply didn't feel comfortable risking a more serious injury last week.

In Week 13 NFL action, Pittsburgh is facing an extremely important game. Going up against the Buffalo Bills will be a tough matchup, but it's a game that the Steelers badly need to win.

With that being said, the status of the future Hall of Fame quarterback has been a major question mark. Now, a new update has been given on Rodgers' situation by head coach Mike Tomlin.

Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers...

As shared by Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Tomlin expects Rodgers to be able to play against Josh Allen and the Bills.

"Mike Tomlin said he has 'great optimism' Aaron Rodgers (wrist) will be able to play against the Bills," Dulac wrote on X. "'I'm comfortable with his general trajectory,' Tomlin said."

After losing to the Bears, the Steelers now hold a 6-5 record. They are currently in second place in the AFC North division race behind the Baltimore Ravens, who are also 6-5. A win this week to get the team back on track would be huge.

Last week, Mason Rudolph filled in as Pittsburgh's starting quarterback against Chicago. He completed 24 of his 31 pass attempts for 171 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. It wasn't a bad performance, but it wasn't the kind of game the Steelers need from the quarterback position.

Through his first 10 games with the Steelers, Rodgers has thrown for 1,969 yards, 19 touchdowns, and seven interceptions, while completing 66.4 percent of his passes. Having the 41-year-old signal caller on the field gives Pittsburgh a much better chance of defeating Buffalo.

More information is sure to come out about Rodgers' status for this week's game. Tomlin hasn't officially announced that Rodgers will start just yet, but this is obviously a huge leap in that direction.

The Steelers and Bills are scheduled to kick off their showdown at 4:25 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
