By Andrew McCartyShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberPatrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs finally got back to their winning ways with a massive comeback victory over the Indianapolis Colts to keep their playoff hopes alive. Despite trailing 20-9 in the fourth quarter, the Chiefs eventually escaped with a 23-20 overtime victory to stay in the hunt for the final playoff spot in the AFC.
"This is exactly what we needed, to win against a really good team and the game is not going your way," Mahomes said after the game. "You could've folded in that situation -- and kind of the rest of the season -- but guys responded. It was a do-or-die type of thing. Guys made plays happen."
The win set up a must-win showdown between the Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day.

As the contest looms, Mahomes and the Chiefs offense received some good news when head coach Andy Reid announced running back Isiah Pacheco will return from injury to play in the game on Thursday. While Pacheco will return, the Chiefs could be without tight end Noah Gray and star offensive lineman Trey Smith, who is dealing with ankle injuries.

Mahomes will also likely have his key targets Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice, who briefly left last weekend's game against the Colts with a hamstring injury, on the field for the pivotal contest.
The Chiefs and Cowboys kick off at 4:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
