I'll get straight to it,because it's Black Friday and you did not come here to mess around: Edifier's chic and unique QR65 desktop speakers are in a glorious Black Friday sale that sees $100 slashed from their price in the US, making them just $269.99 (was $369.99), or a massive £100 off in the UK, making them now just £229.99 (was £329.99), both at Amazon.
And that means huge savings of 27% in the US, or 30% in the UK, on speakers I think already look far more pricey than they are.

Save 27% ($100)Edifier QR65: was $369.99 now $269.99 at AmazonUS deal: Just look at these beauties! Some sites actually list these as high as $499 and you can see why. I personally dig the white colorway most, but get them playing music with LED lights bouncing off their baffle grooves and you've got yourself a party al desko. And when it's 5:30pm? Take the party into the rest of the apartment! I've never seen a deal on a new set like this (only on second-hand pairs) and for me, it's one of the stand out deals of Black Friday. Need desktop monitors that'll happily leave the desk? See our Edifier QR65 review for the full scoop – but I'm a big fan.

Save 30% (£100)Edifier QR65: was £329.99 now £229.99 at AmazonUK deal: In the UK, the saving is that tiny bit better! I personally dig the white colourway most, but get them playing music with LED lights bouncing off their baffle grooves and you've got yourself a proper party al desko. And when it's 5:30pm? Take the party into the rest of the flat (or house, you lucky thing, you)! I've never seen prices drop this low on a new set (only on second-hand pairs) and for me, it's one of the stand out deals of Black Friday. Need desktop monitors that'll happily leave the desk? See our Edifier QR65 review for the full scoop – but I'm a big fan.
View DealOne of the things I love about these speakers is that they're angled up slightly so that when you're listening to tracks or gaming at the computer, the music hits you just right. Sounds like a small thing but it isn't, once you're listening.
I found these powered speakers (the amplification is hidden in the master speaker, so you can simply plug and play – or use Bluetooth to ping music from your source devices wirelessly) zealous and exciting sonically, with a healthy bass weight. But there’s actually a Sub Out port in one of the speakers that you could use to connect to an external subwoofer if you've got one and you want more low-end clout. I don’t imagine too many people needing this, but it’s a nice optional extra and one I thought I'd mention.
Oh, and I've added a photo to show you just one of the light options. I know, I know, audiophiles are tutting right now because of potential noise interference. But I think there's plenty to like about the sound here for the money – and let me be clear that I love the look of these things while I work, rest or play…
More Black Friday audio deals to consider
What about an inexpensive deck to go with your powered speakers? This one's ideal: Sony is a trusted name in audio and this inexpensive turntable is now also discounted for Black Friday. There's a phono stage inbuilt, and because the speakers are powered (ie. the amplification is squirrelled into the master speaker) you can just plug in using the RCA ports and off you go – or even hook them up over Bluetooth (yep, you've got both options here).
Oh, and we recently reviewed it too! Have a gander at our full Sony PS-LX310BT review for the full scoop – but a double saving and a lovely little system for just $448 (usually $819) or £408 (normally £579) doesn't sound bad for Black Friday, does it?
Save 60% ($271)Sony PS-LX310BT: was $449 now $178 at AmazonReleased at CES 2019, this was the first deck I ever reviewed that let me send vinyl playback to my wireless headphones (and you can read that five-star Sony LS-PX310BT review I helped to write for our sister site, What Hi-Fi? but then please come back here – I'm an editor now!). Even the setup for this rock-solid entry-level deck is part of the fun and once you've got it spinning, it's a dream for the money. Owing to its popularity it actually increased in price following its release, so while it was once $148 (in September 2019) this is emphatically the cheapest it's been for a long old while. Highly recommended.

Save 29% (£71)Sony PS-LX310BT: was £249 now £178 at AmazonAn early Bluetooth turntable star, so good that it's still around and popular today – after all it got five stars in the review I helped to write for What Hi-Fi. It was originally around this price when it launched (in September 2019), but its official price rose to £269. This is the cheapest it's been for a long, long while (last year it dropped to £189, although TechRadar's price-tracking tech tells me it has very, very briefly been £169 before now), and for this money it's simply excellent value, and ideal for beginners.
