By Alice GibbsShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberAn X user who unintentionally sparked one of the platform’s biggest viral moments this month has now had her account suspended—just as her post neared 800 million views.
The creator, who goes by Blossom (@Blosept1), asked users a simple question: “What’s the lore behind your header?” Within hours, the prompt detonated across X, drawing in major brands, celebrities and government agencies.
Her account was suspended by X when the post had almost 800 million views.
Newsweek asked X via email why the user was suspended, but the platform did not respond.
What began as a casual inquiry about header photos quickly span into a global storytelling thread. Posted on November 22, Blossom’s prompt inspired an avalanche of responses ranging from deadpan humor to deeply personal anecdotes—propelling the post into ultra-viral territory rarely reached on the platform.
...A Potentially Lucrative Post
Crossing 700 million views places the post in rare territory on X, where only a small fraction of content ever reaches nine-digit impressions.
The scale is even more significant given the platform’s updated creator payment model, which directly rewards high-engagement posts. X pays creators through several streams, including ad-revenue sharing (available to users subscribed to X Premium who pass impression and engagement thresholds) and direct monetization tools such as subscriptions, tipping and paid Spaces.
Since November 2024, payouts have shifted to prioritize engagement from Premium users, not just ads served in replies—meaning mass-viral posts like Blossom’s can translate into substantial earnings if a large portion of viewers are Premium subscribers.
Users Respond
As the post gained more attention, big names started to weigh in.
Netflix used the post to share a well-placed Stranger Things joke ahead of the new season release this week, while British professional soccer team Chelsea FC Women, quoted the post with a single-word explanation for their celebratory trophy image: “Winning.”

Writer Will Jinkies (@MxJinkies) chimed in with a post referencing their own past virality: “I made a joke on election day and wound up on Fox News :/”
Their response garnered 10.7 million views, paired with a header photo showing their political meme featured on national television.
Even major institutions joined the fun. Dulles International Airport (@Dulles_Airport) used the moment to poke fun at a common traveler mishap.
“The number of people that show up at the wrong airport… daily,” they wrote, referring their header image that urges people to check the airport they are flying from.

Actor and Vanity Fair writer Chris Murphy (@christress) shared one of the more colorful explanations, recounting a chaotic moment from his time studying abroad in London:
“I skipped class the day Prince George was born and then was captured taking a champagne bottle to the face outside the hospital celebrating his royal birth on the news.”
The anecdote was paired with a header screenshot from the broadcast and drew more than 300,000 views.
Since the hugely viral post on X was suspended, others have attempted to get in on the action. Multiple versions of the "What's the lore behind your header?" post have appeared on the site, with some going viral themselves—although no posts have gained quite as much attention as the original.
