Choosing a fitness ecosystem to invest in is a bit like picking a football team to support or a Hogwarts house. You might be a Garmin disciple, an Apple Watch aficionado, or a Samsung stan. So if you're looking to get a smart ring in the Black Friday deals, you might find it tough to pick out of the two best smart rings on our list – the Oura Ring 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Ring.
It's tough to pick which deal is the best: in the US, the Samsung Galaxy Ring is available for $279.99 (down from $399.99) at Amazon in its Black, Gold, and Silver colors, while the Oura Ring 4 in Gold is discounted from $499 to $349 at Amazon US. In both cases, you can save 30%.

(Image credit: Future)To start with, if you already own a Samsung phone, you should probably get the Samsung Galaxy Ring. It uses the Samsung Health app, so it ties into your existing ecosystem nicely, and you're able to do some neat tricks like use your Samsung Galaxy Ring as a remote shutter operator for your Samsung phone's camera.
If you don't have a Samsung phone, you can still get the Galaxy Ring's health and wellness features by downloading the Samsung Health app, so it still makes sense to buy for Android and iOS users.
Both rings offer outstanding sleep and wellness tracking features, along with features such as automatic workout tracking. The Oura Ring has more choices of finish, but the Samsung Galaxy Ring has a neat concave design to minimize scratching, which is helpful for longevity.
The Oura Ring 4 offers a more comprehensive suite of wellness tools, some of which you might not use, but it has the downside of requiring an extra monthly subscription of $5.99 / £4.99, in perpetuity.
Getting a discount on the Oura Ring 4 effectively means getting a year or so's worth of this subscription free. However, with a similar discount on the Samsung Galaxy Ring, I'd say if you're conscious of budget, get the Samsung. If money's no object, go for the Oura. Out of the two, I'd lean towards the Samsung due to the long-term value prospect of being able to use it without a subscription.
Still not sure? I've compared the specifications of both rings below, and you can check our Oura Ring 4 review and Samsung Galaxy Ring review.
