Netflix’s new Christmas movie has delighted fans (Picture: Mika Cotellon/Netflix)
It may not even be December yet, but Netflix subscribers are hailing the streamer’s new festive film one of the best Christmas movies in ages, delivering ‘far and beyond’ on laughter and tears.
Netflix released Champagne Problems last Wednesday, and in its first few days on the platform it attracted a huge 20,500,000 views and fans praising it as a ‘delight’ and a ‘Christmas classic’.
The film also shot to the global number one spot ahead of the likes of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, new family animation In Your Dreams and international phenomenon KPop Demon Hunters.
Champagne Problems is a frothy (or should we say bubbly?) rom-com following executive Sydney Price (Ransom Canyon’s Minka Kelly), who flies to Paris to acquire a champagne brand for her company – a known raider – before Christmas.
But after promising her sister to take one night off, she enjoys a magical evening (leading to a romantic, um, rendezvous) with a charming local (Tom Wozniczka) – only to discover the next morning that he is the son of the owner of the vineyard she’s trying to purchase.

‘Champagne Problems on Netflix has to be one of the best Christmas movies I’ve seen in a long time. Absolutely loved it,’ raved Jack Turner on X, while another fan replied: ‘Such a sweet feel-good movie!’

‘#ChampagneProblems was such a beautiful movie. I laughed, cried, and laughed some more!! This is my favourite Christmas movie so far this year,’ posted @lilmomma75710, while Marilyn Kay praised the film as ‘fun and sweet’, adding: ‘If you are looking for a romantic Christmas movie with lots of heart, check it out.’
‘Well this was a delight!’ chimed in Mark Scott, with surprise.
‘I’m not really into Christmas movies, but I’m into whatever Minka Kelly is on so I just watched #ChampagneProblems on Netflix and absolutely LOVED it and omggg where do I find a tall, handsome French guy who looks at me like that and loves books??? I mean, the accent!!,’ swooned Liv.
The positive vibes won out on Rotten Tomatoes too, where the rom-com boasted a fresh score of 61% from fans and an even higher rating of 69% from critics (particularly strong in the realm of oft-rotten Netflix original rom-coms like My Oxford Year, with 29%, and fellow festive film A Merry Little Ex-Mas, on 35%).

‘BEST random romantic movie of 2025!’ claimed Alice K, alongside a five-star rating, while Jack J wrote: ‘This movie was absolutely hilarious. So romantic. A Christmas classic like Love Actually.’
‘Not sure what kind of Grinch you have to be to hate this movie. It’s nothing but love and laughter!’ insisted Grace K.
‘This film had no right being this adorable and romantic and genuinely funny in places. Is a [sic] Xmas rom-com that delivers far and beyond. LOVE it,’ echoed David A.

However, not everyone agreed with these comments as Maja K sniped: ‘The only way to watch this movie is treating everything as if it’s a joke.’

‘Is it possible to create a film worse than this? I doubt it. Zero plot, zero chemistry, and about two good jokes and innuendos,’ said Phil H.
Netflix is also set to add further holiday rom-coms Jingle Bell Heist and My Secret Santa ahead of Christmas this year.
Champagne Problems is streaming exclusively on Netflix now.
