Millie Bobby Brown has played down rumours of a rift with Stranger Things co-star David Harbour, insisting it was “really exciting” to work with the actor on the fifth and final season of the show.

In early November, the Mail On Sunday reported that Brown filed a claim against her on-screen adopted father before the new episodes were filmed. Harbour is said to have faced an internal inquiry following Brown’s complaints, although the publication notes there were no claims of sexual impropriety.
AdvertisementNetflix did not comment on the story, although co-creator Ross Duffer told The Hollywood Reporter: “Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters, but I will say we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point they’re family and we deeply care about them. So, you know, nothing matters more than just having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”
Series director and executive producer Shawn Levy also remarked: “I’ve read a bunch of stories and they range from wildly inaccurate to … there’s so much noise around it. But the truth is that we view this crew and this cast as family, and so we treat each other with respect, and that’s always been bedrock.”

Brown herself has thus far not commented on the story, but in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter discussed presenting a united front with Harbour and her co-stars at the Stranger Thing 5 premiere. “We’ve been doing that for the last 10 years,” she explained. “I mean, we have always been united in that. We love this show with everything, and we value our friendship more than anything.”
RecommendedRegarding Harbour, whom she shares many scenes with in the new season’s opening episodes, she said it was “so nice” and “really exciting” being able to “come back together” with the actor.
“It was quite nostalgic because it reminded me so much of season two and three, where we’re both kind of butting heads and she’s growing up, she’s trying to find her own voice and he’s trying to parent, and that dynamic definitely comes back into play once again, and I’m really excited for people to see that,” she added. “And I think some of people’s favourite scenes of Eleven are Ele and [Hopper], so I’m really excited to have that come to screen once again.”
Last week, Millie Bobby Brown made headlines for firing back at a photographer who told her to smile on the Stranger Things 5 red carpet.
