The Golden State Warriors are expected to miss Stephen Curry for a bit.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the superstar guard is expected to miss “around a week or a little more” due to the setback he suffered in Wednesday night’s game against the Houston Rockets.
Following the game, Curry was diagnosed with a quad contusion. He was scheduled for an MRI.
Fortunately, Curry is believed to have avoided a serious issue. Per Shams, his return will depend on how his quad responds to the recovery period.

NBA Fans Discuss Steph Curry’s Setback
via @Kiwiuh: GSW without Steph is just… State Warriors
@37DSW37: Warriors without Curry is basically a preseason scrimmage
@WVfunnyguy: Tough loss from the perimeter
@LasVegasNBAteam: Good news for the league
...Curry managed to play most of Wednesday night’s game against the Rockets. He checked out late in the fourth quarter. When he went back to the locker room, the star guard had finished the night with 33 minutes of action. He shot 4-13 from the field and 2-9 from three, scoring 14 points.
In addition to his scoring, Curry dished out five assists, came down with six rebounds, and turned the ball over seven times. The Warriors finished the game with a four-point loss, losing 104-100.
@MarcusBurelius: Stephen Curry is 37 and these leg injuries keep happening every year now. One week is the best case but everyone knows soft tissue stuff at his age turns into two or three weeks real fast. Golden State is barely above 500 and they fall apart without him. The Warriors window closed last season and this just proves it.
@WildBillNC1978: Old man winter about to hit Golden St
@free_agent: Aint that bad,we’ll take it
@holardamolar: Fair then
...The timing of the setback is unfortunate for Curry and the Warriors. Through the first 16 games of the year, Curry has been productive with 27.9 points per game, while shooting 47 percent from the field and 39 percent from three.
He’s also producing 4.0 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game. When Curry is healthy, the Warriors hold a 9-7 record.
The Warriors return to the court on Saturday to take on the New Orleans Pelicans. On Tuesday, they’ll host the Western Conference frontrunners, the Oklahoma City Thunder. Then on Thursday, the Warriors will hit the road to pay a visit to the Philadelphia 76ers. Curry is expected to be re-evaluated around then.
