The Tar Heels come into this matchup undefeated, though they have yet to play a true road game; their first five wins were at home, and most recently, their 85-70 win over St. Bonaventure was at a neutral site. In the win over the Bonnies, the Tar Heels overcame a slow first half to run away with the game, outscoring then-undefeated St. Bonaventure 50-37 in the second half. Henri Veesaar led the way with 24 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, and two steals, as North Carolina shot 50.9% from the field and 44.4% from the 3-point line as a team.
Michigan State is similar to North Carolina in that they is also undefeated and have yet to play a true road game. They have two wins over ranked opponents this season (69-66 vs. No. 14 Arkansas, 83-66 vs. No. 12 Kentucky), compared to just one for the Tar Heels. The Spartans' last game was a 89-56 rout of East Carolina, led by the perfect shooting day of Jaxon Kohler, who shot 6-for-6 from the field (4-for-4 from the 3-point line) to score 16 points.
