Bastian Schweinsteiger has encouraged Bayern Munich to strongly consider re-signing VfB Stuttgart defensive midfielder Angelo Stiller.
Stiller came through the academy ranks at Bayern Munich and made 50 appearances in all competitions across two seasons with the club’s reserve team.
Midway through the 2020/21 campaign, Stiller broke into Bayern’s senior squad for the first time, coming off the bench on two occasions in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid and Lokomotiv Moscow.
He also featured for his boyhood club in the German Cup versus FC Duren, but never got the opportunity to play in the Bundesliga.
With his path to regular first-team minutes blocked, Stiller made the difficult decision to leave Bayern for Hoffenheim in 2021, which is where he first began to truly make a name for himself in German football.

The midfielder’s eye-catching performances with Hoffenheim soon caught the attention of Stuttgart, where he has since established himself as one of most sought-after talents in Bundesliga football.
Now a full international with Germany, Stiller is a wanted man across Europe, with Manchester United and Real Madrid credited with an interest in recent weeks.

It’s understood Stiller has been added to Manchester United’s seven-man shortlist of potential targets in central midfield, along with the likes of Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba.
Reports emanating out of Germany suggested Bayern were also exploring the possibility of bringing the 24-year-old back to the Allianz Arena – an idea which clearly has the backing of Schweinsteiger.
‘Angelo is a very interesting player,’ the former Bayern, Germany and Manchester United midfielder said during a recent event with the Kings League.
‘I would very much like to see him back at Bayern Munich.’
