The following article contains spoilers form an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.

Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) told Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) in today’s episode that they’re temporarily leaving the Emmerdale village.

Yesterday, the two characters and Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) were held hostage in the flat by Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill). He had discovered the day before that Robert had lied to him about his relationship with Aaron, and wanted to get revenge.

It quickly became clear that Kev didn’t really have a plan, he just wanted to scare Robert and Aaron with a sword he stole from the pawn shop.

While Robert and Liam were both scared of Kev, Aaron wasn’t. He stood up to the man and effectively painted him as someone who’s all mouth, and Kev’s reaction to that meant Aaron had hit the nail on the head.

The police were in town yesterday as they were after information from Caleb Miligan (William Ash), to see if the depot had indeed been moving drugs through the premises. As a result of Caleb not being at work, DS Carter arrived at Mill Cottage. With the house empty, she rung the doorbell to the flat, which left Kev convinced either Robert, Aaron or Liam had called the police to take him away.

Carter and her team left shortly after, allowing Liam to point out to Kev that if he left now with the stolen loot over his shoulder, he could create a life elsewhere and not head back behind bars.

With it crystal clear that Robert didn’t want to be with him, Kev chose to leave. Just before he went, he had one final conversation with Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches), his biological son. Kev had spent the past few days pondering over whether he wanted a son in his life, but chose to tell Lewis that he’s a bad man, fearful he’d just end up ruining things.

Aaron and Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) couldn’t help but worry about Robert in today’s episode. He had barely slept, and yesterday’s events had reminded him of constantly having his life in jeopardy while in prison.

With Kev on the run, Aaron knew that the police would find him eventually, but he could sense that Robert would struggle with staying in the village and waiting for that to happen.

He then announced to Robert that they’d be leaving the village for a little while, just until the police find Kev.

They’d lie low, and then return once Kev is behind bars and it’s a lot safer.

A friendly reminder that the police are still yet to catch Aaron’s ex-partner John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), who went on the run after committing crimes including murder, kidnapping and drugging.

If they cannot find this criminal, what hope do they have of finding another?!
