By Maria Azzurra VolpeShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberIn a viral Instagram video, a couple of dog owners shared how gentle parenting their puppy is going, and internet users can’t cope with the hilarious footage.
The clip, shared on Tuesday by @goldenbearandmoose shows the couple from Vancouver chilling on the couch as their small golden retriever puppy, Moose, sits on the floor with his toy.
“How gentle parenting is going," reads layover text in the post. As Moose plays with his stuffed toy, his dad tells him off for hurting him, but the pup doesn’t seem too apologetic about it.
“Moose, you hurt me, that’s not nice,” the poster can be heard telling the pup, as the mischievous little golden jumps right up and stops to think for a minute, before biting again him on the finger, “Moose said ‘I’ll show you hurt,” the caption says.
...Training a puppy can be challenging, especially if they’re very small or you’re a first-time owner, but there are ways you can make the process much easier on both yourself and the canine.
Puppy training builds the foundation for lifelong good behavior, and should be carried out using positive reinforcement, which means rewarding the pup with treats, praise or affection for good behaviors, and never punishing them for bad ones, which can cause fear or aggression.
Everyone in the household should be consistent and use the same cues, rewarding the pup after desired behaviors and ignoring them for bad ones. Training sessions should be short (1–5 minutes at first), fitting a puppy’s attention span, according to Today’s Veterinary Practice.
Training should also include getting the puppy comfortable with being handled (paws, ears, mouth, body), which helps for grooming and vet visits. Early socialization—gentle exposure to people, other pets and new environments—is key.
Group puppy preschool or kindergarten classes are especially beneficial, offering controlled social exposure and expert guidance while minimizing disease risks.

The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 657,000 views and 41,700 likes on the platform.
One user, Hollyswaine, commented: “I really like how you can see the moment he weighed up his options and decided to launch an attack.”
Mille.hop said: “No regrets and he'll do it again too!”
