By Andrew RavensShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberWWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair recently offered a candid opinion on Randy Orton’s role in the company, suggesting that WWE is not utilizing one of its most gifted stars to his full creative potential. Speaking during an appearance on the Double Coverage podcast, which aired on November 22, 2025, Flair praised Orton’s skill, physical condition, and overall presence within the company.
Flair went so far as to call Orton the "best male worker in the company right now," underscoring the high level of respect he holds for the 14-time world champion’s in-ring ability. Despite his high praise, Flair believes that Orton is not being booked strongly enough by the creative team.
Flair compared the third-generation star to a modern-day Greek god, stating that Orton possesses all the necessary tools to be a leading man for the promotion. Flair suggested that the company is failing to capitalize on this potential.
“Randy Orton, I mean, he’s third generation. Randy is the best male worker in the company right now. They don’t utilize him the way I would if I was booker, but I’m not," Flair stated (H/T to WrestlingNews.co). "So… he can still work his a** off. But, he’s making a lot of money. He’s doing good. He’s happy. And that’s all that matters”.

Flair also made a point to acknowledge Orton’s dedication to maintaining his physique without the use of performance enhancers, an achievement Flair views as both rare and impressive in the current era of professional wrestling.
Orton is no stranger to being utilized in a creative capacity that draws criticism, even when he has held championships or been involved in high-profile feuds. Flair's comments echo a sentiment shared by many WWE fans who have felt for years that Orton might still be capable of far more than his current role demands. Since returning from a significant back injury at 'Survivor Series: WarGames' in November 2023, Orton has been involved in major programs but has not held a world championship.
