By Daniella GrayShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberA handwritten note has melted hearts across the internet after one woman shared the understated—and unexpectedly sweet—welcome she received from her little brother after a month apart.
In a post on TikTok, @carnival2434 shared a photo of the sign taped to his door. It read: “Wake me up if you’re here and I’m asleep. (Very happy to see u)” followed by a smiley face.
Newsweek reached out to @carnival2434 for comment via direct message on TikTok.
...The text overlay on her video read: “Yes, my standards are low bc this is what my brother did after I got home from living 5 hours away and not seeing him for a month.”
Developmental psychologists from Penn State University’s Sibling Research Program noted that siblings often spend more time together than with anyone else during childhood and shape each other’s communication skills, empathy and coping behaviors.
Another study, published in the Journal of Family Psychology, found that most adults report their sibling as one of the longest and most emotionally significant relationships in their lives, even if they don’t talk on a daily basis.
The post, which has been viewed more than 335,000 times, captured a small moment of sibling affection that struck viewers for its simplicity.
In the comments, some were confused by the text overlay, but many agreed that the original poster probably meant to write “high.”
“I am bawling, that’s so cute,” one user wrote.
“‘Very happy to see you’ I cannot!” another added.
A third user wrote: “Bro I’d get that heart tattooed so fast. This is adorable,” meanwhile another said: “Protect him at all costs!”
It reminded others of just how precious their relationships are with their baby brothers.
“Go snuggle that baby before he grows up too fast. I wish I could snuggle my baby sibling again. We live thousands of miles away from each other now. I need to call them,” one user said.
Another shared a note that was left for her by her brother. It read: "Hi Jamie, I love you. I will text u when I get a chance.”
“My little brother left this one day, it’s so sweet," she wrote. "I talked to him every day when my mom was pregnant with him.”
