By Cole SullivanShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberThe Detroit Lions are navigating some concerning waters after falling to the Green Bay Packers on Thanksgiving, dropping to 7-5 and sitting in third place in the NFC North.
Detroit has lost two of its last three games, and for much of their Week 12 win over the New York Giants, they were trailing and being outplayed — a worrying trend as the team should be ramping up for a playoff push.
Things got a bit more complicated this week when star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown left Thursday’s game in the first quarter with a low ankle injury. There was some positive news less than 24 hours later: according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, St. Brown avoided a major injury and is not expected to require placement on injured reserve.
However, he could still miss one or two games, which remains a significant blow for a Lions team that hasn’t been playing its best football lately.
"At this point, Amon-Ra St. Brown is not expected to land on IR and likely will be week-to-week as the Lions enter the stretch run," Pelissero reported on Friday.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell addressed St. Brown’s injury after the team’s loss, saying he doesn’t believe it’s overly serious but noting that some time could still be missed for the team’s top wide receiver.
“I don't feel like this is long, long-term, so that's the good news,” Campbell said postgame. “But that doesn't mean it won't be here for… it could be a week or two, maybe, if we're lucky.”
If St. Brown misses time, WR Jameson Williams would likely step into a much larger role, especially with the team already down multiple tight ends, including star Sam LaPorta.
Fortunately for Detroit, they don’t play again until next Thursday night, when they host the Dallas Cowboys on "Thursday Night Football."
