By Michael GallagherShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberThursday’s Thanksgiving Day game against the Dallas Cowboys wasn’t the only thing the Kansas City Chiefs lost in Week 13.
The team dropped to 6-6 and likely out of the playoff picture, and starting left tackle Josh Simmons also suffered a fractured wrist, sidelining him indefinitely (many expect him to miss the rest of the season and the postseason should Kansas City sneak in).
And while that is enough to put Kansas City in a somber mood the morning of Black Friday, one particular Chiefs player is bracing for even more bad news.
On a second-and-7 in the final six minutes of the second quarter, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott rolled out to his right and dumped a pass to the sideline for an incompletion.

At first glance, the play seemed innocent. However, as Prescot got back to his feet, he was enraged and arguing with an official because he believed there should have been a flag thrown for roughing the passer.
Video replay showed Chiefs rookie third-round pick Ashton Gillotte hitting Prescott well after he’d thrown the ball, hitting him square in the upper-chest area and sending him to the turf.

Given the league’s emphasis on cracking down on unsportsmanlike conduct and quest to improve player safety, it’s likely Gillotte will have a fin coming his way. Per the NFL rule book, hit on a quarterback penalties carry a $17,389 fine for first-time offenses and $23,186 for second offenses.
In fact, the NFL has fined 12 players a total of $197,001 across 11 weeks for hits on quarterbacks.
Gillotte finished Thursday’s game with four tackles, a run stuff, and a QB hit. The first-year defensive end has 22 tackles, 12 pressures, nine hurries, two QB hits, 2.5 run stuffs, and one blocked kick though 12 games this season.
