By Cole SullivanShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberThe Dallas Cowboys are riding the best stretch of their season, coming off a 24-21 Week 12 victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, followed by a huge 31-28 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving.
Dallas is 3-0 since acquiring star defensive lineman Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets at the trade deadline. Williams has already recorded nine tackles and 1.5 sacks while dominating the interior line, earning high praise from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
Following the win, Jones revealed that he had actually tried to acquire Williams in the offseason in a shocking deal that would have sent Micah Parsons and a first-round pick to the Jets in exchange for Williams. The deal ultimately fell through and they ended up trading Parsons to the Packers for DT Kenny Clark and two first round picks.

Micah Parsons seems to be fitting in nicely with the Packers, recording 2½ sacks on Thursday against the Detroit Lions and raising his season total to 12½. That makes him the first player in NFL history to record 12 or more sacks in each of his first five seasons.
Still, Jerry Jones made it clear why the Cowboys decided to trade Parsons this offseason rather than offer him a long-term contract extension.
"Micah is very impactful, but we really hadn't won with Micah," Jones said on Friday during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan. "No because of Micah. We just hadn't won because (the opponent) was able to work around us having Micah. They ran right at him or they basically threw the ball quicker. Those are simplistic things. And there was no question that if we could replace him with four or five top players, (George) Pickens type players ... that was all in the thinking with Micah Parsons."
