At the beginning of the year, many questions surfaced about what Sanders could do for a team that had lost Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. Unfortunately, Sanders was unable to keep Colorado heading in a positive direction.
Right now, with just one game remaining in the season, the Buffaloes hold a 3-8 record. They will take on the Kansas State Wildcats on the road to close out the year.

Colorado is expected to have Sanders back for the 2026 season. There don't appear to be any major changes on the schedule for the Buffaloes. However, is it possible that Sanders could consider leaving?
...There are some intriguing coaching jobs open at the moment. With that in mind, there are other jobs that could open up as head coaches get hired to the bigger opportunities like Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, and more.
One intriguing team to keep an eye on will be the South Florida Bulls.
Alex Golesh, the current head coach for South Florida, has been in the rumor mill a lot as a potential candidate for bigger schools. If he does choose to leave, where could the Bulls look for a new head coach?
Brian Schaible of Sporting News has suggested that Sanders could be a candidate for South Florida. He believes that the idea of returning to the state of Florida could be a major selling point to get Sanders.
"USF cannot promise unlimited resources, but it can give Sanders the one thing he has never stopped talking about. Florida," Schaible wrote. "He loves coaching Florida players. He trusts Florida players. He recruits them every chance he gets. Of Colorado’s ten commitments for 2026, three are from Florida. Only one is from the state of Colorado."

He also explained why the Bulls could target Sanders to lead the program into the future.
"USF also has a long game to play. A Sanders commitment would instantly strengthen their ACC ambitions. The Bulls will open their new stadium in 2027. They want an identity. They want a program builder. They want someone who changes the room the moment he walks into it."
Throughout his college football head coaching career with Colorado and Jackson State, Sanders has compiled a 43-26 record. A move back to Florida by being the new head coach for South Florida might be something to keep an eye on, but it's all speculation at this point.
