The Minnesota Vikings are set to be without starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy for the team's Week 13 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Unfortunately for rookie quarterback Max Brosmer, who will be starting in his place, the Vikings will be without their full disposal of starting offensive line for Sunday's game.
Brosmer's first chance as a starter will come in far from ideal circumstances. Not only has the Seattle Seahawks defense allowed the sixth-least yards per game in the league this year, but they have also recorded the fourth-most sacks of opposing quarterbacks in 2025.
Seattle's ability to rush the passer may very well be a massive factor in Sunday's game. Especially considering the litany of injuries on the Vikings' offensive line coming into the game.

On Friday, the Vikings shared an injury report that officially ruled out McCarthy for Sunday's game due to his concussion. In the team's report, starting left guard Donovan Jackson was also ruled out for the game with an ankle injury. Starting left tackle Christian Darrisaw is also questionable for the game due to knee and foot injuries.

It's hard enough for an undrafted rookie like Brosmer to make an NFL debut in ideal circumstances. Doing so, potentially without his starting left tackle and left guard, may very well make for a rough day for the former Minnesota Golden Gopher.
On the bright side, expectations have been low all season from Vikings fans pertaining to the quarterback position. J.J. McCarthy has struggled massively this year.
So if Brosmer can even be a slight upgrade over McCarthy, he could very well carve out a future in Minnesota if he is able to win over the Vikings fanbase.
