Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin will announce a decision on his coaching future sometime after the Rebels' Egg Bowl matchup against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Kiffin is tasked with a difficult decision: either stay put with the red-hot Rebels, or take over as the LSU Tigers' new program leader in Baton Rouge. Florida was also in the mix, but Kiffin has reportedly narrowed his options down to Ole Miss and LSU before his making final decision.
Kiffin and the No. 7 Rebels took the field for a regular-season finale matchup against rival Mississippi State on Friday afternoon. During the Egg Bowl broadcast, ESPN shared a notable update from Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter.
Carter told ESPN that he expects Kiffin to stay put in Oxford and lead the Rebels on their likely upcoming College Football Playoff run.
That being said, the school has a contingency plan if Kiffin ultimately elects to take his coaching talents elsewhere.

Last Friday, Carter informed the public of Kiffin's decision timeline.
"Coach Kiffin and I have had many pointed and positive conversations regarding his future at Ole Miss, including meeting today with Chancellor Boyce," Carter said in a statement. "While we discuss next steps, we know we cannot lose sight of what is most important -- our sixth-ranked team that is poised to finish the regular season in historic fashion."

"Despite the outside noise, Coach Kiffin is focused on preparing our team for the Egg Bowl, and together, we want to ensure that our players and coaches can concentrate fully on next Friday's game," Carter continued. "This team is on the cusp of an unprecedented season, and it's imperative they feel the support of the Ole Miss family in the week ahead."
If Kiffin and the Rebels take care of business against Mississippi State on Friday, Ole Miss will finish the 2025 regular season with an 11-1 record — putting the program in excellent position to compete for a College Football Playoff national championship title.
