ITV presenter Ruth Langsford has opened up about her therapy journey after her divorce from co-star Eamonn Holmes.
The Loose Women star, 65, was in a relationship with her This Morning co-host Eammon, with whom she shares one son, for 27 years, and was married to him for 14 years in total.
The pair announced their shock divorce in May 2024, with Eamonn garnering attention just weeks later as he started dating relationship counsellor Katie Alexandar.
Although both have seldom discussed their split in public, Ruth has reflected on the method she used to heal from the fallout of the end of her lifelong relationship as she looks towards the future.
‘I started counselling when Eamonn and I separated, and I’m still having it. It is very powerful and very useful. It gives me tools to deal with things,’ she told Woman & Home in a new interview.

She continued: ‘My counsellor has probably seen us on TV, but she doesn’t know either of us so doesn’t get involved and doesn’t judge. She just listens and says: “Have you thought about this?” or “Why did you feel like that?”
‘I think I know myself very well, so it has just been calming. It makes me question how I’m feeling. When my sister died, friends suggested counselling and I said: “I don’t [want] just [for someone] to tell me that I’m really sad,” and I still feel like that.;
Ultimately, she concluded that ending a ‘very long relationship takes a lot of unravelling. ‘Counselling helps you move on from it, to not be held back,’ she said.
The immediate aftermath of their break-up left the TV personality feeling hopeless and lost.

‘Before, I saw darkness and was thinking: “Oh my God, what’s going to happen?” but now the fear [has] gone.
‘Because what do you do? Do you crumble? Do you lay down and die? Oh no, not I. I will survive,’ she said, quoting the oft-cited lyrics of Gloria Gaynor’s anthem, I Will Survive.

But now she believes she has come out the other side, explaining that although she hasn’t ruled out another relationship, for now, she is not ‘actively looking’.
‘I’ve realised I’m actually quite good on my own. I am independent and quite strong,’ she said about this ‘exciting’ next chapter.
At the time, it was reported that the divorce came as a ‘kick in the teeth’ for Ruth after she had spent so long caring for Eamonn through his ongoing health and mobility issues.
Fans were left concerned about the GB News host last month after he revealed he had been treated for a facial injury in hospital which left him with an eyepatch.
