A classic courtroom drama starring Tom Cruise has been added to Amazon Prime Video for streaming in the UK.

Written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Rob Reiner, A Few Good Men stars Cruise as military lawyer Daniel Kaffee.

Assigned to defend two Marines charged with murder, Kaffee finds himself drawn into a dark conspiracy, putting himself at loggerheads with intimidating commanding officer Colonel Nathan R. Jessep.

And, as Jessep takes to the stand, so airs one of the greatest sequences in film history – Jack Nicholson’s now-iconic ‘you can’t handle the truth’ speech.

Pitting Cruise and Nicholson against each other, the star-studded film also features Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon, Kiefer Sutherland and Cuba Gooding Jr. in supporting roles.

Over three decades on from its release, and the film is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime.

A Few Good Men currently boasts an 84% positive score from critics on the review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, with Radio Times highlighting Nicholson’s character as ‘the ultimate establishment figure.’

Meanwhile, Total Film praised its ‘classy cast’ and ‘slick script,’ as TIME Magazine called it ‘extraordinarily well-made.’

The positive reaction is one largely shared by home audiences, who have contributed to its even stronger audience score of 89%.

Of the film’s most famous sequence, Cruise recalled: ‘I remember the Nicholson scene when we were in in the courtroom, suddenly I’m looking around and the rafters were filled.’

Speaking to Edith Bowman at the British Film Institute in May, he continued: ‘People were kind of surrounding and filling the rafters around just to watch Nicholson and I go at it. It was magnificent to watch him and see what a wordsmith he is, you know, like a great crooner.

As per The Independent, he went on to describe the now-retired, reclusive star as ‘an actor’s actor,’ and ‘very supportive’ of his co-stars.

‘He’d be like, “That was a good take Tommy, nice work Tommy.” He’s just really lovely and he just loved it,’ Cruise added.
