Díaz reportedly wants another $100 million deal, but the Mets may not be willing to spend that much. He has already made it clear that he would be willing to leave the Mets to get paid. FanSided's Christopher Kline predicted Díaz would leave the Mets this offseason.
Díaz is 31 years old, and if the Mets can't meet his contract demands, some other team will. Plenty of contenders in big markets need bullpen help and would not turn away Díaz. He had a 1.63 ERA and 28 saves last year. He won his third Reliever of the Year Award last season and is still one of the best pitchers in baseball.
...He has been with the Mets since 2019 and was named to his third All-Star Game last season. He has a 2.82 ERA and 253 career saves. He is a fan favorite in Queens, and losing him would be a major blow for the Mets. Kline noted that a team like the Dodgers would not shy away from meeting Díaz's contract demands.
The Mets would not have an issue paying Díaz if they did not have so many other holes to address. The starting rotation is in desperate need of an upgrade, the outfield could use help and Pete Alonso is a free agent.
