Freeze went 15-19 overall and 6-16 in SEC play during his three seasons with Auburn. On Sunday, the program announced South Florida head coach Alex Golesh was set to become Freeze's replacement.
During an appearance Tuesday on the "See Ball Get Ball with David Pollack" podcast, Freeze admitted that he's upset with how things ended at Auburn, believing he was close to turning the team around. He wants another chance at a different program to prove himself.

“And that still sticks in my craw," Freeze said of believing Auburn was close to winning while he was still the head coach. "And I guess if, and I don't like that this sounds kind of ugly, but I'm kind of p----- off too... So if somebody is looking for that, then I think my resume kind of speaks for itself.
"I am a little p----- off, and can't wait to, whenever that time is, that God has and has the right place for us, I think we'll be back out there.”
Freeze was thankful for his opportunity to coach the Tigers, suggesting his final record there was an aberration from the rest of his career.
“And the crazy thing, I've won everywhere I've been except for Auburn," Freeze said. "And that's just, you know, you've got to deal with that, and that's a dose of humility. But I have nothing, I'm thankful for Auburn.”
Freeze is 91-66 overall as a head coach. He went 34-15 at Liberty before taking over at Auburn.
Freeze started his career going 20-5 at Lambuth before taking over at Arkansas State in 2011. He went 10-2 with the Red Wolves for one season before leaving for Ole Miss.
Freeze had winning seasons with the Rebels in all four seasons but his last, when Ole Miss finished 5-7 in 2016.
