Ruben Amorim has named the Manchester United summer signing who has ‘surprised’ him since joining the club.
After a dispiriting 15th-placed finish in the Premier League last season, United sought to embark on their latest rebuild in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils spent over £200m on new players, with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko, Senne Lammens and Diego Leon all arriving at Old Trafford.
And while far from the finished product, the Red Devils have looked far better so far this season, currently sitting in seventh place and just one point off the top four.
Mbeumo and Cunha have hit the ground running in United’s new-look attack, perhaps no surprise given their Premier League experience at Brentford and Wolves respectively.

But it has been the assured displays of deadline-day signing Lammens which have caught many off guard, given the Belgian’s age and relatively modest fee.
Lammens replaced the outgoing Andre Onana and has hit the ground running so far in Amorim’s side, with legendary United boss Sir Alex Ferguson particularly keen on the young Belgian.

And Amorim appears to have been equally impressed by the 23-year-old, with the United boss admitting he has even been left a bit ‘surprised’ by how well Lammens has taken to the pressures of the role.
‘Of course, we do our diligence when we are going to buy players,’ he told Stadium Astro.
‘But as I said, it was a surprise, all the pressure that we suffer with the goalkeeper position to arrive here and to show that confidence.

‘To transmit that confidence to the team, I think, was a little bit of a surprise for me.
‘I’m not going to say everyone, but I’m talking as a manager, I have no problem to say that was a surprise for me.’
Back-to-back draws against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham prior to the international break extended United’s unbeaten run to five league matches.

‘I think we are capable of scoring goals in any moment and this is so important especially in our league,’ he added.
