Things heat up in Walford next week as the Slater family’s stalker fears take a sharp and unexpected turn and Jean Slater finds herself dragged into the centre of the drama in a way that threatens to blow the family apart.

Zoe is still shaken after a string of incidents that leave her convinced someone is targeting her. The tension ramps up when the intruder alarm at The Vic goes off late at night. Kat, Alfie and Zoe dash down to the cellar, only to find the back door wide open and the chilling message ‘YOU WILL PAY’ painted across it.

Later, Alfie discovers a single earring on the cellar floor, splattered with the same paint. With no other clues to work from, the family starts assuming the earring must belong to whoever broke in.

Zoe, already on edge, initially accuses Vicki, but Vicki shuts the idea down straight away. Kat and Alfie aren’t convinced either, but with no answers and Zoe spiralling, the earring becomes the only lead they have.

And then everything flips.

Jean spots the earring in The Vic and casually mentions she’s relieved to have found it because she ‘had been looking for it everywhere’. Kat and Alfie freeze. Suddenly, the person they’d ruled out is unknowingly claiming the one piece of ‘evidence’ they’ve been relying on.

When Kat gently tries to work out how Jean’s earring could have ended up in The Vic’s cellar on the night of the break-in, Jean instantly clocks the implication. And she’s furious, the hint that Kat thinks she might be stalking Zoe hits her like a slap.

Humiliated, upset and feeling wrongly accused, Jean marches straight into The Vic and erupts in front of everyone. She defends herself loudly and passionately, insisting she would never target Zoe and that the idea she’s behind the threats is completely insulting. Her outburst stops half the pub, and Zoe is left stunned, not just by Jean’s anger, but by the realisation that Kat and Alfie didn’t tell her the truth earlier. They already knew the earring belonged to Jean and kept it quiet.

From Zoe’s perspective, everything starts to look uncomfortably convenient. She already knows Jean doesn’t warm to her, Jean still blames Zoe for Stacey leaving Walford, so when the earring turns out to be Jean’s, Zoe feels her suspicions hardening rather than easing.

Later, even as Kat and Alfie try to reassure Zoe that Jean isn’t her tormentor, Zoe lashes out, accusing them of letting Jean ‘pull the wool over their eyes.’ Kat and Alfie push back, insisting Jean simply isn’t capable of something like this. But Zoe, already shaken and feeling unheard, grows increasingly convinced that Jean is hiding something.

Meanwhile, things get stranger at The Vic when Kat and Alfie start receiving constant calls from a mystery number, on both their mobiles and the pub’s landline. The silence on the other end only fuels Zoe’s certainty. To her, it feels like confirmation that Jean is the one behind the harassment. Kat and Alfie firmly disagree, but with emotions running high, nobody can think clearly.

After a heated row between Zoe and Jean, Zoe storms out of The Vic and heads straight to Anthony Trueman. Unlike the Slaters, Anthony isn’t tangled up in the family drama, and he becomes the supportive ear she desperately needs.

Jean, meanwhile, is left shaken. She’s hurt that Kat even entertained the idea she could be the stalker, and her resentment toward Zoe, already simmering, now feels sharper than ever.

But with the mysterious phone calls still coming and Jean adamant she’s innocent, the Slaters may have to face the possibility that they’re looking in entirely the wrong direction, and the real stalker could be operating right under their noses.
