The Premier League is back with Chelsea taking on Burnley this afternoon.
It hasn’t always been rosy for Enzo Maresca this season but his Chelsea side are sitting pretty in third place and could move to within three points of Premier League leaders Arsenal this afternoon.
It could make things very interesting with the Blues hosting Mikel Arteta’s side at Stamford Bridge next week.
But there is work to be done first at Turf Moor. Chelsea have had to get used to playing without Cole Palmer this season and will have to continue without their talisman for another few weeks after a freak accident at home that saw him fracture his toe.

The Blues emerged from the final international break relatively unscathed otherwise with focus now on closing the gap on the top.

They win the ball well and Delap is charging up the pitch. Gittens all alone to his left is the pass to make, but instead he has a shot from range that sails over the crossbar.
Poor.
November 22, 2025 12:36 pm 5 mins: Burnley 0-0 Chelsea Callum McAvoyEarly controversy here as Sanchez bizarrely boots the ball into the back on Fernandez’s head from close range.
Burnley have the ball on the edge of the box and are looking for the decisive pass, but the referee stops the game to attend to the stricken Fernandez.
Scott Parker and the home fans are furious.

Enzo Maresca says the decision to drop Moises Caicedo has ‘nothing’ to do with the games against Barcelona and Arsenal.
‘The reason he is not in the first eleven is that came back Thursday night from Ecuador, from the national team, then just a light session with us yesterday, and the reason he is not playing is that it is impossible. To protect him a little bit.’
The head coach has also confirmed that while Wesley Fofana is absent from the matchday squad, the defender is NOT injured.
‘Just to manage him and protect him a little bit. He is playing, he is good and he is fit and we are very happy with that.’

One of the Premier League’s best players this season is Antoine Semenyo. The Bournemouth forward has six goals and three assists in just 11 appearances.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that the Ghana star has a £65million release in his contract, putting the likes of Liverpool, Man Utd and Tottenham on high alert.
Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has urged Enzo Maresca to sign Semenyo, saying ‘it’s a no-brainer’. Read the full story here.

As ever, England legend and Betfair ambassador Alan Shearer has revealed his Premier League predictions to Metro:
‘Burnley will feel as if they can take advantage of the early kick-off because they’re at home. We know Turf Moor is a tough place to go but I’d still think that Chelsea may just edge it.
‘Chelsea are unbeaten in their last four and Maresca will be looking to carry that on – which I think they will do.’
Prediction: Chelsea win.

Chelsea begin the day third in the table but victory at Turf Moor will see them climb to second above Man City who face Newcastle tonight.
As for Burnley, they are 17th, only avoiding the relegation zone thanks to their slightly better goal difference over West Ham. Even just a point today would be a fantastic result.
Here are the latest match odds, courtesy of Betfair.
- Burnley win – 5/1
- Draw – 11/4
- Chelsea win – 4/9

Burnley’s team features several faces who will be familiar to Chelsea fans. Lesley Ugochukwu starts against his old club for the first time since leaving Stamford Bridge last summer.
The same goes for Armando Broja who is on the Clarets bench. Remarkably, the striker has not scored since Chelsea’s FA Cup win over Preston nearly two years ago.
Is today his day?

The big news from those line-ups is that Moises Caicedo has been left on the bench, with Andrey Santos starting instead.
The Chelsea star is one of the best midfielders in the world right now but it’s not a massive surprise to see him rested for the trip to Turf Moor.
He played two full games for Ecuador over the international break and only arrived back in England in the early hours of Friday morning. Moreover, Chelsea have two big matches next week against Barcelona and Arsenal.
A sensible call from Enzo Maresca, or a risky decision?
