Auburn Tigers (4–6) are limping into this matchup after a wild 45–38 OT loss to Vanderbilt last week, where they put up 563 yards of offense but couldn’t close it out. The Tigers have had a rocky season: inconsistent performances, coaching turnover, and a defense that’s struggled to make stops at key moments. Auburn’s hopes here will rest on getting a clean, complete game across offense, defense, and special teams.
On the other side, the Mercer Bears (9–1, 8–0 SoCon) come in red-hot and battle-tested. They blew out Chattanooga 63–17 in their last game, with freshman QB Braden Atkinson throwing five touchdowns and piling up 326 yards. Mercer leads the FCS in offensive explosiveness (especially through the air), while their defense is stingy on the ground. They’re riding a nine-game win streak and just clinched the Southern Conference title; now they get to close their regular season on a huge road stage at Jordan-Hare.
