The Philadelphia Phillies are headed into a very important offseason this winter. Two of their best players, Ranger Suárez and Kyle Schwarber, are headed into free agency. Schwarber is seemingly going to be the team's top target this offseason, but they might cut ties with Suárez.
If the Phillies let Suárez walk, he should receive interest from a lot of teams around the league, even if he's projected to sign a big deal. Jim Bowden of The Athletic recently projected he would sign for $164 million this winter.
FanSided's Chris Landers recently predicted Suárez would leave the Phillies and sign a massive deal with the San Francisco Giants.
..."Like, for example, San Francisco," Landers wrote. "The Giants could sure use another starter behind Logan Webb and Robbie Ray, and I think their desperation to get back to the postseason in 2026 makes them the best bet to go whole hog for someone like Suarez — whose shorter track record might scare some other suitors away. Plus, a ground-ball pitcher could do a lot worse than an infield including both Willy Adames and Matt Chapman."
The Giants desperately need to add pitching to their roster after they moved a few pitchers off the team in the trade for Rafael Devers.
Going after a big free agent like Suárez would be the perfect addition. The Giants need to add some talent to close the gap on the Los Angeles Dodgers and an ace like Suárez would do that.
