Playing in the NFL by their 30th birthday is a reality that some players never get to experience.

Former Los Angeles Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko is one of them.

The 29-year-old defensive lineman announced via social media on Friday that he was officially retiring from the NFL after just two seasons.

“Sometimes in life you just get a sense of fulfillment & for me it’s now,” Fehoko wrote on Instagram. “29 years old and I couldn’t be happier with the journey of where this game has taken me.

“…I’m not a fan of long novels but I’m glad to say I’m retiring from this great sport of football. I’m so blessed to have a head start in life & I look forward to my next chapter with my family. I’ll miss the team dinners, bus rides, training camps, and everything in between. I won’t miss conditioning.”

The highlight of his football career came back in 2019 when he won a College Football Playoff National Championship with LSU.

That team, coached by Ed Orgeron and quarterbacked by eventual No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow, set several NCAA records en route to a 14-0 season, had six All-Americans and 15 All-SEC selections, and had 14 players drafted, including five first-round picks.
