The 2025-26 NBA season has just begun and the trade deadline is months away, but there are already quite a few rumblings beginning to get louder. When it comes to the Golden State Warriors, the buzz has been about the franchise potentially being a buyer ahead of the deadline.

So far this season, the Warriors have shown flashes of being the title contender that many expected them to be. However, those flashes have not turned into consistency.

Right now, Golden State holds a 9-9 record. Stephen Curry and company have had some clear flaws that have come up already. If the teams fails to improve, looking to upgrade via a trade might make sense.

With that being said, the Warriors have been connected to a potential blockbuster trade target.

Steve Kerr, Golden State Warriors...

Nekias Duncan of Yahoo Sports has named Golden State as one of the potential suitors for Sacramento Kings star big man Domantas Sabonis. The Kings have had a slow start to the season and Sabonis has been named a trade candidate to watch.

"This would almost certainly need to be a multi-team trade in light of the Warriors being restricted by the second apron. As someone who enjoys a little trade machine exploration, there’s some fun stuff you can come up with involving Brooklyn, for example," Duncan wrote. "There was already offseason smoke centered around the Kings’ interest in Jonathan Kuminga, and the Nets were routinely brought up as a cap space option before they used it elsewhere — it feels like that could at least be a conversation starter. Sabonis would be such a natural fit in Golden State’s split-heavy, movement-heavy offense, though. I’d worry about any minutes where Sabonis isn’t tethered to Draymond Green, but there may be enough speed on the bench to offset some of those worries."

Sabonis would be an excellent fit for the Warriors. He's not a good defender, but his offensive game would be ideal alongside of Curry. He can score from the post, knock down a shot, rebound, and pass at a high level.

So far this season in Sacramento, Sabonis has played in 11 games. He has averaged 17.2 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, while shooting 51 percent from the floor.

Unfortunately, this week Sabonis was ruled out for the next three or four weeks due to a partially torn meniscus in his left knee. He should be healed up well before the trade deadline.

Expect to continue hearing rumors about Sabonis as the season moves forward. Perhaps Golden State will consider getting aggressive to bring in the star center.
