By Evan MasseyShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberThe Cincinnati Bengals badly needed a win in Week 12 NFL action at home against the red-hot New England Patriots. Unfortunately, a win was not in the cards for the Bengals.
Instead, they ended up falling to the Patriots by a final score of 26-20.
With the loss, Cincinnati fell to 3-8 on the season. On the other side of the field, New England maintained its lead at the top of the AFC with a 9-2 record.

Not only did the Bengals lose the game, they also suffered another loss on the injury front. Tee Higgins, the team's star wide receiver, went down with a concussion. On a short week and scheduled to play on Thanksgiving Day against the Baltimore Ravens, his status was immediately called into question.
...To that end, a notable sports doctor has weighed in on Higgins' likely status against the Ravens.
David J. Chao posted on X that Higgins is unlikely to play against Baltimore. However, he did shared that both Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase are widely expected to be back on the field for the Bengals.
"Tee Higgins suffered a concussion today and was visibly knocked out," Chao wrote. "Do not expect him to play on Thursday, but the Bengals will get Ja'Marr Chase and Joe Burrow back."
Before exiting the game against the Patriots, Higgins had caught five passes for 31 yards. Following the game, Higgins has now recorded 40 receptions for 575 ayrds and seven touchdowns in the 11 games he has played this season.
At 26 years old, Higgins is locked in for the foreseeable future. He received a lucrative new contract extension during the offseason from Cincinnati.

Hopefully, he'll be able to make his return to the field quickly and without any setbacks. Many players struggle with concussions, as they can drag on for much longer than anticipated.
Following the Bengals facing the Ravens on Thanksgiving Day, they will hit the road for a matchup against the Buffalo Bills in Week 14. Sadly, the season is already practically over for Cincinnati when it comes to the team's ability to get into the playoffs.
