Kiyoshi Mio-Imagn ImagesThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers have their hands full tonight against the Los Angeles Rams, who raced out to a 28-7 lead in the first half and hold a 31-7 advantage at the break.
And any comeback attempt will be led by an ailing Baker Mayfield.
Mayfield entered the blue medical tent after the Buccaneers scored their first touchdown of the game, when Mayfield connected with Tez Johnson on this play in the second quarter:
The injury likely occurred on this scramble a few plays before, when Mayfield lowered the shoulder through contact in an effort to pick up a first down:
As you can see from the above clip, a frustrated Mayfield was not moving his left arm much as he made his way to the blue medical tent.
While Mayfield returned to the game and played the rest of the first half, he appeared to exacerbate the left shoulder injury on the final play of the second quarter. Mayfield launched a Hail Mary throw that came up short of the end zone, and could be seen grabbing at his left shoulder after the throw, while crashing to the turf at SoFi Stadium:
Now we wait to see if Mayfield will return to the game for the second half.
Update: Mayfield has been replaced by backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
