By Cole SullivanShareNewsweek is a Trust Project memberWeek 12 of the NFL season wraps up Monday night when the Carolina Panthers take on the San Francisco 49ers, but all eyes are already on the upcoming week, which features games on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, capped off with another Monday night matchup.
At this point in the season, not only are the standings starting to take shape, but so are the races for the major awards, including NFL MVP.
Several names have been in the conversation—New England Patriots QB Drake Maye, Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor, and Seattle Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba—but the player who has emerged as a clear favorite after Sunday is Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford, who former QB and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III said should be at the very top of every list.
"No one is playing better at QB than Matthew Stafford," Griffin III said. "He should be on the top of every NFL MVP list. Watching him play is like poetry in motion. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone with better arm talent at the age of 37."

Stafford helped lead the Rams to a dominant win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on “Sunday Night Football,” defeating Tampa Bay 34-7. The Rams took a 31-7 lead into halftime and then coasted in the second half while maintaining a stifling defense.
The 37-year-old quarterback finished the game completing 25 of 35 passes for 273 yards and three touchdowns. He’s completing 66.5% of his passes for 2,830 yards, 30 touchdowns, and just two interceptions, with six games still remaining.
